Verb Full Form To end an application's relationship with an open file so that the application will no longer be able to access the file without opening it again.
- [MSTP 4.6] Use 'close' for windows, documents, and dialog boxes. For programs, use exit. For network connections, use end. Use close to refer to the action a program takes when it has encountered a problem and cannot continue. Do not confuse with stop responding, which indicates that the program cannot close itself.
