Noun Full Form An area of an application window that enables the user to navigate quickly to different parts of the program.

In a Help window, the navigation pane would contain links to the Table of Contents, the Answer Wizard, and the Index. In an Outlook window, the navigation pane would include panes such as Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and the shortcuts or folders within each pane. Note that ""navigation pane"" (lowercase) represents the generic concept, but some software may capitalize references to ""the Navigation Pane"" in their product.
